FG Develops Learning Portal to Support Major Pharmaceutical Drug Trial

ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. (RPS) of Ft. Washington, PA supports global pharmaceutical companies in managing clinical trials. Being sure that participating sites around the world understand the outcome measures for a particular study and accurately collect data as they treat their patients is vital. RPS turned to FG for a solution that provides continuous learning support for study sites.

FG’s solution – a web-based learning portal that can be accessed from anywhere in the world and that can easily be updated and maintained to address the learning and assessment needs of the study. In just 90 days, FG developed and produced the interactive assessments, courses, and portal. The portal provides support documents, video-based learning programs, and targeted assessments so that study coordinators can be sure that study sites adhere to the required protocols. The courses include video guides and demonstrations, shot in FG’s studio, and interactive case studies that help reinforce the practical application of what can be an involved outcome measurement process.

The FG team worked tirelessly to meet the aggressive timeline to launch the portal and will continue to support it for the duration of the trial. This includes managing and tracking users and user data, translating programs and assessments into 17 different languages, and developing refresher assessments as required by the study.

New Insights for Working with Mature Market Customers eLearning Module Created for Claim Vendor Partners

While many of us love and cherish our older adult friends and relatives, we may not know how to work with them professionally. The same thing can happen to service providers interacting with Hartford insured’s, who are age 50 and older. Issues they encounter when working with this group might include managing stressful conversations – such as the loss of a spouse, or change in health status – and communicating with customers who have hearing loss. In both cases, a specialized approach can make business conversations more effective and efficient!

To help claim vendor partners be successful working with the Hartford’s Mature Market customers, the Hartford Advance 50 Team of Corporate Gerontologists developed content and turned to First Generation to produce and deliver a user-friendly training module that provided Insights for Working with Mature Market Customers.

Using activities, interesting facts, graphics, voiceover, and animation throughout, FG brought the Hartford’s learning content to life.

“This is the fifth project we have produced with First Generation,” says Shelley Paradis, M.A, Corporate Gerontologist for The Hartford Advance 50 Team. “Their high quality work – always on-time and within budget – have earned us numerous awards. The bonus is working with all of the terrific people on staff – everyone from the owner on down are accommodating, professional, and always accessible.”

FG Fuels Up Volvo’s eDrivertraining

For Volvo Trucks North America, one of the keys to driving success is educating drivers to take advantage of the features and technology built into their vehicles and the best practices for maintaining and efficiently operating those vehicles out on the road.

One of the key challenges facing Volvo: developing engaging and informative content that fleet drivers and owner operators can access easily. To help meet this challenge, VTNA called on First Generation’s unique combination of expertise in media production, interactive development and instructional design.

First Generation partnered with Volvo to write, develop and produce 16 interactive online learning programs for their online Driver Development portal, www.edrivertraining.com

“When developing programs for learning and development, it is important that content is presented in a context that is relevant to the audience, in this case, vehicle operators” said Steve White, First Generation’s producer for the project. “We worked with Volvo to create a narrative that drivers will relate to and that fulfills the learning objectives of each program.”

Each program is multimedia rich utilizing audio, video, animated graphics, and interactive exercises to deliver content in a real world context. Everything was produced in-house at First Generation, including instructional design and script development, several days of shooting in our 5,000 square foot studio, several days of HD location production on the highways and roads of North Carolina, and the editing, animation, programming and testing.

Improve Workplace Performance Now: The Power of E-Learning and Training

Improve Workplace Performance Now: The Power of E-Learning and Training

Transform how and when your employees learn in the workplace

By Steve White
Multi-media Producer and Instructional Designer for training and eLearning at First Generation

In today’s business climate the performance of your people is a critical differentiator for your business’ success. When change is the only constant, your organization must establish a baseline of competency and skills among your workforce. No matter the size of your organization, whether it is a storefront with three part time employees or a service organization with 500 employees, implementing comprehensive training and learning solutions can move your organization forward by delivering measurable results that drive performance. You can improve your workplace performance through cost-effective and time-efficient technologies that train employees and customers.

One of the basic tenets of adult learning is that learning needs to take place at the time that the knowledge is required. And the pace of innovation in technology has driven business learning needs from a need to “know how” to a need to “know now.”

This is one reason why providing self-paced and eLearning is such a powerful and effective investment for businesses. eLearning can provide every employee (and is applicable to customers, too) consistent learning that is available at the time they require it. Here are some trends in delivering self-paced learning and eLearning that can be effectively implemented for any size business.

The New York City Sanitation Department Goes Green with FG’s Help!

Posted in Training & eLearning by Chris Moran on January 21, 2010 No Comments yet

A demonstration Hybrid refuse truck, produced by Mack Trucks, is scheduled for release to New York City Sanitation (NYCS) Department in the near future. First Generation is on the forefront of training for this new technology with the development of an Instructor-Led Training (ILT) course for the truck’s operators.

The course covers a variety of subjects including basic intros to hybrid technology and US10 exhaust aftertreatment, but focuses, in particular, on the safe operation of the vehicle. Operators will learn how their pre-trip inspection should change, the proper actions to take for various dash indications, and what to do in emergency situations. The course is currently planned as a two-day event. First Generation is also on tap to deliver this course, with FG’s Instructional Designer & Producer Chris Moran to instruct the first group of driver trainers.

According to Mack Trucks, the new “green” refuse trucks capture energy from braking, convert the energy to electricity, store the electricity in lithium ion batteries, and use it to power the electric motor, which assists the diesel engine with propulsion of the truck. This technology provides the maximum fuel savings and environmental benefits on routes with frequent braking and accelerations, making refuse collection an ideal application. Use of this hybrid system, when fully optimized, is expected to improve fuel economy by up to 30%, with a corresponding greenhouse gas emissions benefit.

FG will report more on the trucks and their reception once the training event is completed.

Generation WHAT?! eLearning For The Hartford

We have all heard of the Baby Boomers, Generation X and even Generation Y, but what about the GI Generation or the Silent Generation?

First Generation is currently working on “Generations:  Understanding Consumer Behavior in the 50+ Market,” an interactive eLearning module for The Hartford Advance 50 Team. The online course provides employees with an enriched knowledge of their customers based on the generational diversity of the 50+ population.  It offers valuable insights for how generational differences can impact the business.  The program details historical “coming of age” events that took place in the lives of each generation and how those events have shaped customers attitudes and beliefs.   Hartford employees will apply this knowledge as they strive to create and deliver products and services of value to various customer segments.

Do you know which generation you were born in? How about your parents? Your grandparents?

“Generations” is the third eLearning module First Generation has developed for The Hartford. A similar look and feel has been created for the series and all have gotten rave reviews for their design and functionality, as well as content!

FG At the Jersey Shore for Sovereign/Santander Bank Training Video Shoot

While the Jersey Shore is usually more exciting in the summer, the First Generation crew brought energy and enthusiasm when they traveled to Beach Haven, NJ for a Sovereign/Santander Bank film shoot for two chilly November days!

The three-part training video served as a tool for bank tellers and branch managers, demonstrating how to model excellent customer service and how to best manage duties during off-peak, peak, and rush times, working together as a team. FG handled the job from start to finish – script oversight, casting, staging, directing, filming, editing, and delivering the final product. Sovereign/Santander Bank was very pleased with the result!

Adobe announces Flash Player 10.1 – so what?

Adobe Flash 10.1
I know, I know – why do you care about ANOTHER media player for the Web. I have been producing multimedia for the web since the 90’s and I can barely keep track of all the latest and greatest world changing 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 social, cloud, virtual environment wowsers that pop up seemingly every day.

But the impact of the latest Flash Player is something to take note of –  it is the first time the same version of the Flash Player will be available across Windows, Mac, Linux, Netbooks, as well as Mobile devices. In the past, mobile devices relied on a Flash Player “Lite” to view Flash animations. Now mobile devices will be able to view and interact fully with Flash content. (There is one notable exception, the iPhone, but I think Apple will have to eventually relent) Ok, so you’re thinking – geeky stuff – don’t really care. Well, more and more, people are using their mobile devices to get and interact with information. These people are your customers, employees, friends etc. and with the new Flash player, we can develop interactive learning, messaging, and so on and communicate that learning or message across multiple browsers and now mobile devices. And for those keeping score – this is a big boost to another buzz term out there – “mLearning”  (Mobile Learning)!

Check out this video for more info on the new Flash Player 10.1
